Rev. Dorn R. Majure, III, “Trey”
Associate Pastor
Trey received his B.A. in Preaching and Pastoral Theology from the Baptist College of Florida, and a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as an officer in the Army and was an associate pastor at First Baptist Church of Vass, NC for four years, and also served as senior pastor of Cypress Springs Presbyterian Church in Cameron, NC. Currently he is pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in the areas of church revitalization and preaching.
Trey’s ministry philosophy is based on John 8, “The story of the woman caught in adultery can easily be applied to the life of every Christian. All of us have failed, all of us are broken in some way, and the world is filled with those ready and willing to condemn us. In this passage there are several phrases that explode from the page, “Neither do I condemn you” and, “Go and sin no more.” There is a balance there that is very difficult to achieve, both showing grace and kindness while also speaking truth.”
Trey was born and raised in Mobile, AL where both his father and grandfather were ministers. He was brought up in Airport Blvd. Baptist Church where his mother is still the pianist, and his sister is the minister of music. He and his wife Katie have three children: Levi, Kinsey, and Benjamin. As a family they enjoy hiking and spending time at the beach. Trey is a die-hard University of Alabama football fan, enjoys playing sports, especially those with a racquet, and his way to unwind in the evening is with a good book.
Rev. Dr. Vickie Smith
Minister of Children and Youth
Vickie Carson Smith is a native of Durham, North Carolina. She graduated from Campbell University with a B.A. in Graphic Design. Vickie met her husband Ashley during their undergraduate years at Campbell University. After Ashley received a call into ministry, Vickie sensed a call to serve alongside her husband as well. Together they both serve The Village Chapel.
Vickie’s training in children and youth ministry began with raising their own four beautiful daughters: Abigail, Sarah, Hannah, and Landen. Along with being a mom, Vickie began serving as a volunteer at The Village Chapel, conducting the children’s sermon in the 9:30am Family Service and leading the Youth Group on Sunday nights. Realizing that further theological education would enhance her ministry, Vickie entered seminary at Campbell University Divinity School where she graduated in May of 2019 with a Master of Divinity Degree. While in seminary, Vickie was chosen to serve as a Student Scholar in the World Religions and Global Cultures Center, and was inducted into Theta Alpha Kappa, the National Honors Society for Religion and Theology.
Vickie graduated from Campbell University Divinity School with her Doctor of Ministry Degree in 2025. Her love for the history of The Village Chapel and interdenominational worship inspired her to pursue research on how the development of the Village of Pinehurst was instrumental in creating an independent interdenominational church known as The Village Chapel.
Vickie continues to serve the children and youth of The Village Chapel as a full-time employee and reports that Christ is doing wonderful things in the lives of the children and youth through Christian discipleship and fellowship. It is Vickie’s prayer that as the children and youth of The Village Chapel grow in the knowledge and love of Christ, they will continue to serve and follow Him in the years to come.
