Adult Christian Education

The Village Chapel offers several opportunities for ongoing Adult Christian Education.

Strengthen your faith journeys with adult Christian learning and fellowship classes and bible studies. Congregation members are provided many options to further their Christian education. Groups meet at the nearby Care Cottage, Chapel Hall, Heritage Hall and members’ homes.

Current Classes and Studies

 

Seminary Lecture Series

Join Pastor Ashley as we explore the History of Christianity. The class begins with a 30-minute video lecture by Professor Luke Timothy Johnson, Ph.D., followed by a 30-minute discussion of the subject matter. The class will meet on the third Wednesday of each month from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The next lecture is Wednesday, November 20, in Heritage Hall, and is entitled: “The Extension of Christian Culture.” The class is 36 lectures in all and will meet throughout 2023-2024 when possible. There is no cost or registration required and all are welcome!

 

Practicing the Way (of Jesus)

An on-ramp to spiritual formation that explores what it means to follow Jesus and lay a foundation for a life of apprenticeship to Him. We will meet again in 2025 at the Care Cottage. For more information, or to register, contact Bonnie Jo and Steve Wurzbacher

The Bill Wetmore 9:30 Bible Study

Bill Wetmore’s Sunday Bible Study continues this Sunday with our study of Romans, using a book by Bill Wetmore, “Behold the Son of God” as our study guide. Books will be provided. Won’t you join us in the conference room by Pastor Ashley’s office.

The Al Mangum 10:45 Adult Sunday School Class

Join us each Sunday, 10:45 a.m. at the Care Cottage for Sunday School. We begin each class with prayer, followed by a video series, and then discussion lead by various members of The Village Chapel. Through The Bible

We are taking a break for the Holidays. Classes will resume in February.

Defending Your Faith

Pastor Trey and Ken Dickson lead a class on how to defend your Christian faith in a rapidly changing world. This course is designed to help you discuss your faith with friends and family, and how to defend it against common objections. Tables of 8 Fellowship

The Community Men’s Bible Study

We meet at The Care Cottage every Thursday from 4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Eddie Sanderlin, Ken Dickson, and Greg Wetzelberger will lead us in studying the Book of James. You can purchase your study guide at Amazon for $9.99. Search “The Book of James by John F. McArthur”. This edition has a blue cover.

Thursday Bradshaw Bible Study

Join us for a short study for Advent these Thursdays, November 21, December 12, and December 19, at 2:30 at the Care Cottage as we look at the birth of Jesus through a different lens with the help of J. Ellsworth Kalas’ book, Christmas from the Backside. Please contact Stan with any questions.
