Dear Chapel members and friends,

As the U.S. Open golf tournament is rapidly approaching, we wanted to communicate to you the ways that access to the church will be affected from June 10 – June 16, including our Sunday worship schedule. In accordance with our contractual agreement with the USGA, parking at the Chapel during that week will be limited to the paved parking places on the Chapel’s rear driveway. Chapel activities will be moved to another week. Emergency meetings will be accommodated as they arise.

Beginning June 10, only the paved parking spaces will be available to Chapel members with a special issued pass from Heather Wiggins in the office. These passes will be issued during office hours this week. The 18 paved parking places will be available to our staff and members with a need to visit the Chapel. The rest of the property will be available to USGA staff only. USGA will erect fencing and place parking attendants at the entrance to the driveway. Chapel members are not permitted to park here to attend the Open.

We kindly ask that members try to make visits during that week by appointment only. Staff members will be available by email or phone. Pastors will be available for those needing immediate attention as usual.

The Care Cottage will also be affected during this time. Three representatives from the Payne Stewart Foundation will be using the Care Cottage for housing and the parking of their vehicles, which includes a large recreational vehicle. All meetings in the Care Cottage will be suspended during this time, and parking there is not permitted. This applies to groups not affiliated with The Chapel as well.

On Sunday, June 16, we will be offering one (1) worship service at 8:00 a.m. (with communion). Up to fourteen (14) of our paved parking spaces behind the Chapel will be available to those wishing to attend the service. These spaces will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis to those with a permit issued by Heather. Parking on the pine straw will not be available. We also have thirty (30) parking passes for the public lot directly behind the church for Sunday morning use only, which can be issued by Heather in the office. The service will be live-streamed for those wishing to watch from home.

We thank everyone for their flexibility during that week and apologize for any inconvenience. Questions may be directed to Jack Wood, available by email jwood008@nc.rr.com.
